A sculptural steel staircase leads to the top floor where one finds the master suite and an equally spacious deck that offers unabated views of the scenic landscape outside. Sliding glass doors a neutral color scheme and unassuming interiors ensure that the sights and sounds outside end up stealing the spotlight at this ingenious contemporary home.
With a smart indoor-outdoor interplay as the major factor in defining the house and its silhouette one sees the raised terrace become a part of the living space indoors. The connection between the outdoors and the living space goes beyond being merely visual as the transition between both spaces is simply seamless.
A series of rocks within a 5-meter radius of the water’s edge made the construction of this structure all the more complicated. Galvanized steel columns were directly drilled into the rocks to give the structure a sturdy base that can withstand the harsh local weather conditions.
Steel-gray granite white stucco timber slats and wooden battens shape the distinct façade of this Indian home along with the generous use of glass. Completely opening up to the greenery that surrounds it the overall form of the house mimics that of a multilevel gallery.
We all have had that moment in our lives when we feel that all we need is just ‘one more room’ to truly complete our home. And then we move on to a bigger house and the feeling remains despite all that newfound space!
