A roughcast concrete river wall stands between the house and the river’s edge and sets clear boundaries while the silhouette of the house and the ‘raw’ nature of the elements used in construction draw from local architecture and its historic industrial past.
A beautiful modern home set in a quiet little neighborhood of the Dutch town of Roosendaal is all about finding new expression for local design and architecture. The expansive contemporary residence designed by Zone Zuid Architecten combines the timeless effect of the gale roof with sleek minimal aesthetics and a neutral color palette to create an exquisite interior.
The arrangement of the three individual units is inspired by rocks around a campfire and the simplicity of their design and striking dark exterior make them even more appealing. The black cladding also lets the home blend into the forest and melt away after sunset while it stands out as a gorgeous contemporary addition during the day. Large glass doors and windows connect the interior with the landscape even as the living area bedrooms and kids’ bunk beds exude an air of serenity and unassuming charm.
It is the second floor that houses the entrance of this fabulous home with a smart walkway leading to a cubic volume that is draped entirely in Brazilian teak. A large Cor-ten steel door provides visual and textural contrast to the curious entrance and leads into the foyer.
It is hard to imagine that a home as splendid and extravagant as the in Texas was a dark and dingy structure from the 1980s until recently. It was only after its new owners turned to Miró Rivera Architects that the true potential of this fabulous Texas home and the lot on which it sits were fully realized.
But none of these proved to be a major hindrance as the creative folk from LDa Architecture & Interiors conjured and created this modern masterpiece that uses the sloped site to its advantage! The three-level interior is both spacious and serene with clean crisp design and a neutral color palette holding sway.
Once you step inside this elegant home the image of the dark stained cedar exterior is quickly replaced by a breezy living space clad in neutral hues and an open living area that is filled with ample natural light.
