Large corridors and a wonderful sculptural staircase greet you in here with paths leading to the private section of the house on the first floor that contains the adult bedrooms kids’ rooms and lovely guest bedrooms. Each of the five bedrooms here opens up into an individual balcony and pergola which offer connectivity with the panoramic backdrop.
The arrangement of the three individual units is inspired by rocks around a campfire and the simplicity of their design and striking dark exterior make them even more appealing. The black cladding also lets the home blend into the forest and melt away after sunset while it stands out as a gorgeous contemporary addition during the day. Large glass doors and windows connect the interior with the landscape even as the living area bedrooms and kids’ bunk beds exude an air of serenity and unassuming charm.
White is undoubtedly the color of choice inside the house with shades of gray playing second fiddle. The use of bold color is kept to a minimum with additions such as the green bench at the breakfast zone offering a pleasant change of pace. Refined refreshing and at times quirky this Weston residence is all about light-filled bliss!
Designed by SO Architecture it is two large boxes that make up the overall design of the residence with the one on the ground providing partial support for the second box above. A steel frame also provides additional support creating an open living area that contains the kitchen and dining room.
Keeping away from excess it is this minimal approach that defines the color scheme and the décor choices on the inside as well. An open living space spacious kitchen and light-filled dining room make up the new ‘social zone’ that is filled with ample natural light and flows into the deck outside.
An engaging and non-intrusive rear and side extension in steel frame and glass extend the living area and create space for outdoor dining and living. The glass structure also brings natural light into the refurbished home with a neutral color scheme and re-upholstered décor adding to the cheerful ambiance.
Décor is kept simple and unassuming and the high gabled roof creates a sense of spaciousness and contemporary grandeur. With an open double height circulation area that connects the living spaces on the lower level and the more private rooms on the top floor there is an unabated flow of light throughout the house.
