Glass windows and doors along with the central glass wedge and the bay windows bring in a flood of natural light to fashion a cheerful and refreshing ambiance. Shades of gray white and black dominate the open plan living space kitchen and dining room on the lower level of the house. The top floor contains four bedrooms bathrooms two game rooms and additional spaces.
A roughcast concrete river wall stands between the house and the river’s edge and sets clear boundaries while the silhouette of the house and the ‘raw’ nature of the elements used in construction draw from local architecture and its historic industrial past.
But none of these proved to be a major hindrance as the creative folk from LDa Architecture & Interiors conjured and created this modern masterpiece that uses the sloped site to its advantage! Some of the original features of the building like the façade wood paneling on the walls and skirting were carefully preserved restored and given a new lease on life while the floor plan of both the lower living level and the top bedroom level were considerably altered.
Many of the existing doors and windows were retained and revamped to improve the ventilation of the house with the top level now housing a comfy master suite that paints a picture or serenity and style.
