How would you love to escape to a mesmerizing holiday home nestled on the rocky coastline of a small island in Norway? It does sound like an exciting proposition filled with amazing views and loads of tranquility! Promising precisely that and a whole lot more is by Lund Hagem which was designed for a young family who wanted to transform their more modest holiday home into something far more exciting and expansive.
Floor-to-ceiling glass windows open the living and dining area to the outdoors while the central room separates the wing with dining space kitchen kids’ bedrooms and breakfast zone from the zone that contains the master suite home gym and office.
Décor is kept simple and unassuming and the high gabled roof creates a sense of spaciousness and contemporary grandeur. With an open double height circulation area that connects the living spaces on the lower level and the more private rooms on the top floor there is an unabated flow of light throughout the house.
The lower level of the house contains the living room kitchen and dining space along with the hall and internal partitions are kept to a minimum to create the illusion of spaciousness. A neutral color scheme and uniform lighting accentuate this further and ensure that this modest Slovakian home has a breezy and cheerful ambiance.
But none of these proved to be a major hindrance as the creative folk from LDa Architecture & Interiors conjured and created this modern masterpiece that uses the sloped site to its advantage! The three-level interior is both spacious and serene with clean crisp design and a neutral color palette holding sway.
The new open plan living area flows into the cool dining space that overlooks the deck outside with the small kitchen in white sitting next to it. A drawing room sits between the living room and the kitchen and acts as a connecting and transitional zone. Two relaxing bedrooms and a bathroom on the top level complete the exquisite makeover that finds a balance between modernity and classic elegance!
White is undoubtedly the color of choice inside the house with shades of gray playing second fiddle. The use of bold color is kept to a minimum with additions such as the green bench at the breakfast zone offering a pleasant change of pace. Refined refreshing and at times quirky this Weston residence is all about light-filled bliss!
