It is the second floor that houses the entrance of this fabulous home with a smart walkway leading to a cubic volume that is draped entirely in Brazilian teak. A large Cor-ten steel door provides visual and textural contrast to the curious entrance and leads into the foyer.

Designed by Scott Posno the striking residence was built to meet the demands of a modern family of four and has an inherent sculptural quality that is simply undeniable. A cantilevered top level provides shelter for both the entrance and the deck outside even as the basement of the house offers additional living and utility space.
With a smart indoor-outdoor interplay as the major factor in defining the house and its silhouette one sees the raised terrace become a part of the living space indoors. The connection between the outdoors and the living space goes beyond being merely visual as the transition between both spaces is simply seamless.
A plan for a home that started out as a traditional New England dwelling in all its splendor soon morphed into a contemporary retreat and an inviting family residence that sits on a lush green lot in Massachusetts. The rests on land that was once home of dense vegetation wetlands and a huge rock ledge.
The main objective of the residence was to create a nurturing and caring environment for three young boys and to open up a world of amazing natural sights and sounds that leave them enthralled. Nestled on the river’s edge and surrounded by beautiful woods the three minimal structures of the house were placed to create private and cozy outdoor hangouts that are sheltered from the elements.
